About us

UTMT's Bees for Poverty Reduction strategy targets rural poverty in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Besides providing farmers with a remunerative income through the creation of honey, bees play a crucial role in increasing agricultural productivity through cross-pollination.

UTMT not only advances sustainable community-based beekeeping with the indigenous bee, Apis cerana indica in rural India, but also conducts an Urban Bee Keeping course at Maharashtra Nature Park, Mumbai to increase urban awareness of the importance of bees in our food system.
