About us

Society for Children (SOCH) is currently operational in three locations of Odisha, viz. Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Puri. It works towards rescue and resettlement of runaway, missing or lost and abandoned children (through project Rakshyak). It also works for the behavior modification of the hardcore street children (through project Punarjivan) who have for some reasons been separated from their family for a longer duration or have fall prey to addictions, child labor, beggary, etc. SOCH operates on the philosophy that the safest and happiest place for children is with their family & homes. Hence, the first objective of SOCH after rescuing a child is to locate & contact his/her family and reunite them. For those children whose family could not be traced, they are forwarded to Child Care Institutions (CCI) run by the Government. Here again, SOCH (through project Pankh) helps in mainstreaming these youths through skill development and placement assistance from the age of 16 years.
