About us

Sumant Moolgaokar Development Foundation is a TML floated Foundation which works exclusively for providing safe drinking water to water stressed rural and semi-urban geographies in India.

The access to clean drinking water is powered through minimal and voluntary monthly contributions by employees, which is matched by an equal contribution from Tata Motors. The projects are deployed through entities having domain expertise and the villagers contribute voluntarily through labour, locally available resources where construction work is required and through donation of land to the community wherever applicable.

2018-19 saw 73 additional clean drinking water projects under the initiative.

Till date, close to 200000 citizens from over 505 water stressed habitations (70% of those who are tribal communities in Pune and Jamshedpur) have assured and safe drinking water available – 30 litres/capita/day as per WHO guidelines.

This has reduced drudgery of women who travel an average of 4 kilometres of distance to procure water. The enrolment and attendance of girls in rural schools have improved significantly. Also 15 drought prone villages are now drought resilient villages with access to safe drinking water. They also are in the aspiration of reaching out to Osmanabad district, State of Maharashtra.
