About us

Sambandh Health Foundation today offers Recovery programs for people living with severe mental illness and their families/Caregivers:
  • Community Integration Centre (CIC) is a Recovery Program for people living with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, in collaboration with the Haryana Govt. It is free of cost.
  • Outreach Program is to reach out to people who are in a situation of isolation and need to be met at their home to begin with.
  • Leisure Activities are in the community on weekends for all our CIC and Outreach members
  • Mental Health Awareness talks and street plays by the Sambandh Team - staff and members help in creating awareness of well being as well as mental illness.
  • Village Project takes the Recovery Programs to the nearby villages and make them accessible to the local people. Gurgaon Gaon, Shivajinagar, and Basai are our present village, where we are working in. We also address the needs of the families and spread awareness in the community.
  • Family Support Groups and Family Counselling, the lives of families are often as devastated as those of the PwMIs and our Family Support Group and Family Counselling services help families to cope with the illness and recover their own lives.
Future Plans: To continue and extend all of the above programs.
  • Supported living has been the need of several of our members who would like independent/group living in the community, in a home that is their own. A new project is in pipeline as an attempt to address this need.
  • Supportive living provides safe accommodation in a home like setting. The goal is to promote independence while having access to accommodation and flexible supports. Residents, program officers, live in staff will work together to set the operational guidelines of the home.

Why work with us

About 10% of the Indian population is affected by mental illness. This includes common mental disorders (CMD) like mild depression, anxiety etc., and severe mental disorders (SMD) like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, OCD etc. 3% of the population is known to suffer SMD i.e. over 35 million people in India and about 60,000 in Gurgaon alone. If you wish to help us make a difference in the lives of people living with mental illness and their families, then volunteer with us.
