Prerna Social Development & Welfare Society

PRERNA is providing non-formal education (NFE) and formal education (FE) for children of homeless/street children since the year 2006.  Through admissions in regular schools and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) for needy children is an integral part of Prerna. Only education ensures the enjoyment of childhood and also provides various positive ways/options for future of every individual.  If we analysis the details of negative elements/persons, the basic reason for their negative attitude is always emerging from their improper childhood atmosphere.  Hence PRERNA is giving highest attention to EDUCATION OF CHILDREN.  The following initiatives are launched by PRERNA:-

Prerna is providing ‘shelter for homeless people’ under a Delhi Govt. project since the year 2010-11.   Under this project Prerna Social Development and Welfare Society presently running shelter Home for homeless community, physically challenged persons as well as for the patients/attendants visiting AIIMS/ Safdarjung Hospital from the nearby States. At present the following shelters are running under Prerna:

(i)         Shelter at AIIMS Hospital, New Delhi. (Big hall, bus, tent and modified container shelters) -for patients and their attendants visiting AIIMS hospital for treatment from various States;

(ii)        Shelter under Safdarjung fly over, New Delhi - for homeless community. About 40-50 children are going to regular school due to our sincere and continuous efforts;

(iii)       Shelter near Sai Baba temple, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi;      

(iv)       Shelter at Gyala Dairy, Dwarka, New Delhi;  

(v)        Temporary shelter under Okla fly over, New Delhi.
