Gramin Vikas Sanstha (MGVS) is a Non-Governmental Organization registered
under the Public Trust, Society Registration Act. It is also registered under
FCRA Act, and also 12A and 80G. MGVS is working in the outskirts of Aurangabad, Nasik, Ahmednagar and Jalna districts of Maharashtra State since 1995-96 for the downtrodden and affected areas. These are some of the most backward districts in Marathwada and western Maharashtra region. MGVS works mainly in the area of health, education, rural water supply and sanitation for the rural and urban poor. It believes very strongly in people’s participation in all its interventions at every stage, right from planning, implementation, evaluation to monitoring and thus the community is motivated and involved in all phases of its initiatives. Vision To strengthen the grassroots initiatives for socio-economic empowerment of economically underprivileged rural and urban women, youth and children through promoting community based development programmes in the field of health, education and water, sanitation programme Mission • Develop a module village (Green and Healthy village) of Aurangabad district • Promote the community based Health Care centers in remote villages to have easy access to health care facilities. • Provide shelter home for HIV+ve orphans and beggars in Aurangabad district • Render technical and consultancy towards building programs for other community based organizations, local NGO's and partner organizations. This should help these organizations achieve self-reliance for their future social initiatives. |

Why work with us
| Most
of MGVS’s team is involved in field work. This is where the core of what they
do lies. Hence, their expertise is more with grassroutes work; and when I
comes to things like reporting and document, they find great difficulties. A
volunteer who can help them with documentation of all kinds would be greatly
appreciated. Given the spread of their work, it would be essential for that
person to spend atleast a month with MGVS. After all it would take atleast 2
weeks to get a good understanding of all their activities. MGVS will host the
volunteer at a hostel in Aurangabad – it’s a basic but safe and clean setup.
The experience of working with them on field will be a memorable one,
promises their team. Knowledge of Marathi language would help the person
communicate well but a Hindi-speaker would also manage just fine. |
