About us

1)   HIV Prevention and Control: Awareness programme among most at risk population (female sex workers, injecting drug users and men having sex with men). Apart from this, prevention programmes are done in corporate setting and other educational institutions.

2)   HIV Impact Mitigation: This programme aims to mitigate the impact of HIV through livelihood training and supporting entrepreneurship initiatives by those living with and affected by HIV.

3) Promotion of Life Skills and Sexual and Reproductive Health for Young People: This target population for this programme has been mostly adolescents living with and affected by HIV. Apart from counseling on sexuality and related issues, following initiatives are undertaken:

a. Sunburst Camp: HT has been conducting 5 days’ residential adolescents and children living with HIV since 2011 with provision of various sessions covering wide range of topics related to life skills. The camp has benefited close to 150 children and adolescents living with and affected by HIV.

b. Leadership Camps: This camp has been introduced in 2015 and focuses on developing leadership among young adolescents
living with HIV. The first camp had 30 adolescents living with HIV in a three-day residential camp held at Bhirondem, Valpoi.

c. Advocacy: Advocacy for protecting the rights of children living with and affected by HIV has been in forefront. The programme has also been having a capacity building component for care givers and counselors.

4) Drug Abuse Awareness and Prevention Programme: HT has been spearheading the program after being concerned about the increasing prevalence of drug abuse among Goan teenagers. This includes
a. Early interventions on substance abuse – including awareness workshops in schools and colleges and providing counselling to youth in substance abuse.
b. Workshops for school counselors, teachers and PTAs on issues of substance abuse.
