About us
Dooars Jagron seeks to empower plantation and village communities around basic human rights issues such as the right to literacy and education; the right to adequate medical and health care; and the right to livelihood, to food and work. With CRY’s intervention from 2005, the organization has been gradually working towards mobilizing youths, organizing the labourers especially women on issues of rights and entitlements with focus on child rights. The daily wage of Rs.85 is inadequate to sustain the high cost of living for a family and the children get into Child lLabour to support their families. Alcoholism often eats into the family income and the children face the impact of this situation. The parents are also not sensitized enough to send their children to school. They prefer their children doing child labour and earning money for the family.
