About us

Chilume Social Service Society is secular and not for profit organization established in the year 2006. A group of 7 young people from different profession with their social concern for the people established Chilume and started supporting few poor students with their own resources. Mr. Joseph A.T (MSW) in his passion for rural and urban children’s education dedicated entire time and life for the organization.

Chilume has focused on three thrust areas of development; holistic Education, women empowerment through SHG formation and livelihood programmes, and job oriented skill trainings programmes. For the past the one decades, chilume has supported over 800 rural and urban students for higher and technical studies with CSR support in Kanakapura, Bangalore and Bangarpet areas. Under women empowerment programmes, Chilume has formed 70 SHGs and provided seed money for 375 women towards various micro enterprises. Through SHEEP BANK programme 120 women are promoted for rearing of sheep and goats and permanent income to their families. Under job oriented skill development programmes, Chilume has trained over 750 rural and urban unemployed youth in tailoring, driving and soft skills which has enabled them to avail decent jobs and economic self reliant. Besides, Skill programme was linked under PMVKY programme of govt. of India and ensured alternate income to their families.
