CHILD VOICE believes that child labour is the worst form of exploitation because it abuses, exploits, and violates helpless children with impunity. Vulnerable voiceless and marginalized children are denied their right to life with dignity because of these forms of exploitation. The Sumangali Thittam of camp coolie system is one of the worst forms of child abuse and exploitation that is prevalent in southern districts. CHILD VOICE is proud to be associated with Geneva Global/Freedom Fund project, working in Nilakottai block of Dindigul district covering 30 communities in 10 panchayats within the target block. The target areas have been identified to contain high level of young adolescent girls working in spinning millswhere Sumangali Thittam is being practiced now.The target area continues to be a major source points for adolescent girls who are vulnerable and are at potential risk of being dropped out from schools and be recruited under Sumangali Thittam.
